[ȓə 'mʌnθlɪ rɪ'vjuː], 1749 in London gegründete, liberal orientierte Monatsschrift, die als erstes systematisches Rezensionsorgan in Großbritannien Besprechungen literarischer Neuerscheinungen auf hohem kritischem Niveau veröffentlichte; Mitarbeiter waren u. a. O. Goldsmith und R. B. Sheridan. Mit der M. R., die 1845 eingestellt wurde, konkurrierte die konservative »Critical Review« (1756-90).
